Welcome to Highway Farm Activity Centre! The great outdoors!
Highway Farm Outdoor Activity Centre Cornwall is managed by Martin Besford & Jane Neill. The centre is situated in Four Lanes, Redruth, near to the north Cornish coast line.
Our Activity Centre which was completed at the beginning of the summer 2006, incorporates disabled facilities, changing rooms and showers, an indoor hall with fully equipped kitchen area, relaxed seating area and presentation equipment. The outside area is landscaped with car parking and turning facilities, picnic areas, football pitch and team building equipment and lots of adventure play opportunities. There are Secluded camp fire areas and separate camping zone with timber bunk house and tents, all set within one and a half acres. Our outdoor space is changing all the time. It is developed for the children, by the children. They help design, plan, build and create the adventurous wild and fun play space.
We are outdoor the majority of the day, up to 90% of every day, exploring the wonderful world we live in.
Little explorers outdoor pre-school has its own Eco timber buildings and private outdoor area.
Little Explorers - Outdoor Pre-school
Little Explorers is part of Highway Farm Activity Centre. We operate in Eco friendly Timber buildings with a back to basics, cosy atmosphere. The buildings are heated by a log burners and water heated on it. We have compost toilets and are wrapped internally with carbon zero insulation. We try to offer the best of both worlds with a secure natural indoor space, a stimulating and challenging outdoor, enclosed area for free flow. All surrounded by an acre and a half field for the freedom and exhilaration the natural outdoors has to offer.
Holiday Outdoor Playschemes
A holiday play scheme for children 3-12 yrs. During school holidays we run fun, friendly and exciting activities for children. We run lots of activities such as Camp Fire Cooking, outdoor games, Survival, sports, adventure play, role play, Den Building, Whittling, Mud and water play, peddle go-karts, and many more. In the mornings staff organise activities based around the childrens interests. In the afternoons we call it our "Free Range Children" session. Children choose completely the activities they wish to do and staff will facilitate their ideas and requests. If children just want to play, there is the acre and a half space that offers safe, good old fashioned play opportunities to allow children- to be children.
Find out more under the header holiday clubs. We are Ofsted registered. Parents can claim working tax credit.
After school club
After school club runs mon-fri term time. The children are collected from Pencoys school and brought back to the Centre or they are transferred from pre-school down to join After school club. They receive healthy snacks and drinks on arrival and the children are encouraged to help pre-pare the food. After snack children can get changed and enjoy the evening choosing the activities that they wish to take part in. The majority of the time is spent out on the field adventuring, digging, playing, cooking on camp fires and generally having fun!
The cost is £7 for the evening.
